Crossroads Housing Development Corporation (CHDC) is a 501(c)(3), non-profit organization. We were founded in August of 1999. CHDC is dedicated to providing safe and affordable housing for low-income households.
When CHDC was founded, the properties that we would remodel came from donations or were purchased through grants. In 2000, we partnered on our first Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) project, Limestone Ridge, in Big Spring, Texas.
We have continued to grow and gain notoriety throughout the state of Texas. We now have over 50 Tax Credit properties in our portfolio. We also self fund and administer programs benefiting low-income homeowners through our CHIP IN! and Raise the Roof programs. Also, our Down Payment Assistance program benefits future low-income homeowners.
As a Community Housing Development Organization, the guidelines for how CHDC sets our service delivery area is consistent with the guidelines set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Our current service delivery area covers all areas north and west of U.S. Highway 59 in the state of Texas and Regions 4, 5, 6, and 11 as reflected on the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs Map of Uniform State Service Regions of Texas as in effect in 2018. From time to time, the CHDC legal team may deem it necessary to alter the CHDC service area as necessary to conduct business.
Our current programs include Low-Income Housing Tax Credit, Pryor's Projects, CHIP IN!, Raise the Roof, Down Payment Assistance, and Deposit Assistance. Each program targets a specific need within the low-income housing sector.
